Here are just some of the things you can expect when working for Wakefield Council:

Excellent salary, Manageable spans of control ? Flexible working ? Small and Supportive Teams ?Permanent Service managers ? Excellent Learning and Development opportunities

Are you looking for a new opportunity to be part of our permanent, driven and passionate management team, motivated to providing an excellent service for the children and families of Wakefield? If so, then this role may be perfect for you.

Due to retirement, a fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen for Team Managers to join our enthusiastic, supportive, and welcoming teams in Locality Children’s Services at our Hemsworth and our Featherstone bases.

OFSTED recently acknowledged that in Wakefield children and young people “are at the centre of practice”.  We know our social workers are the key to achieving this.

We recognise the challenges for Team Managers – both in the complexity of the role and with the additional impact of national pandemic and understand the importance of retaining connectivity with staff and providing staff with the right support, tools, and environment so that they can thrive.  In Wakefield, you will be provided with the space and resources to meet safely with team members, with families and children to ensure that you feel safe, but also without sacrificing the essential elements of your role.

OFSTED said that we excel as a “learning organisation”.  It is this ethos that has allowed us to build ‘an environment where good and effective social work is flourishing’ and where staff ‘without exception’ are ‘very enthusiastic about working for Wakefield’ (OFSTED November 2021).

The permanent management team and ever increasing and stable permanent workforce are the key to our achievements and are making a real difference to the children and families who need them.
