We know social workers are amazing people – working in challenging circumstances to deliver the best support to help children and families thrive. It requires a variety of skills including patience, empathy, advocacy, communication and passion.

But to achieve their best, they need to be guided by a truly dedicated Team Manager. Someone who personifies and models the best of social work practice.

At Wakefield we take an integrated and partnership approach to working. We work collaboratively to enact real change and positive impact for our district’s young people, families, and the communities we support.

At the heart of realising this is our staff. That’s why we’ve set you up to be in the best position to flourish, support your team, and ultimately work with families to realise their potential.

Here we’re looking for only the best – those with the skills, motivation, and passion to help us move forwards. But you also need to be:

  • Able to provide strong leadership, effective management and support to staff.
  • An apt communicator, including listening, building empathy, consultation and negotiation in order to support staff to deliver high quality work.
  • Actively engaged in the assessment and development of practice, so we can provide good services and ensure the best outcomes for our district’s young people, their families, and communities.
  • Someone who can develop and maintain highly effective relationships with partner agencies to ensure integrated, holistic, and informed care management and safeguarding.
  • An advocate for diversity within the service and ensure equal opportunities are offered to all service users and employees.
