Children’s Emergency Duty Team Senior Social Worker

As part of our commitment to safely and ensuring we respond to safeguarding out of hours effectively in emergencies, an opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent Senior Social Worker to work as part of a developing team working with our most vulnerable children and families out of hours.

Childrens EDT is a small evolving team of 5 core social workers supported by sessional workers as and when required over weekends and public holidays.

We are excited about the future and have recently moved to Elland Rd police station to be based with the safeguarding team.

The team undertake the most complex work often dealing with trauma and significant harm. The successful candidate will be highly experienced, show passion and drive, and be able to ensure they work in partnership with other agencies to make safety plans for children and families in crisis. They need to be able to work on their own without onsite management support, making safe decisions. They will hold strategy discussions with police and health colleagues to ensure risk is managed until normal working hours where Duty and Advice or area teams can take over. They need to be able to keep ensure the child’s voice is heard in all decision making and that they incorporate Leeds Practice Principles in all their work.

The work environment is fast paced and the successful candidate needs to be able to work under pressure whilst being able to be clear in their role and responsibilities, whilst being supportive but also being able to effectively challenge when needed.

This role requires frequent lone working and the successful candidate needs to be able to show that they can accurately record information with clear analysis and decision making to help inform further action.

If you would like to discuss this role further, please contact Pam Woodall team manager or Farrah Khan CSDM on 3760282. If you wish to apply for the post you will be required to complete the  shortened application form.
